CNC Milling of a Stainless Steel Bell Crank for the Aircraft Engine Industry
The project highlighted here is an example of KL Steven has the ability to provide custom CNC milling services for a wide array of aerospace application. We manufactured a quantity of 320 of this bell crank which was used as an aircraft engine trim component. This part was machined from cast 17 - 4 PH stainless steel, and featured a hardness of Rc 28-35. The CNC milling used to machine this part required the fabrication of custom fixturing which we provided in-house. These parts also received surface grinding, honing, and deburring to reach to dimensions called out in the customer supplied drawings. The finished dimensions of 4" x 4" x 5/8", met tolerances of ±.001", these dimensions were verified throughout manufacturing by dimensional, visual, and FPI inspection.
